TCS becomes Official Technology Partner for Tour de France team

Tata Consultancy Services is pleased to announce it has become the Official Technology Partner of Tour de France team, the Garmin-Cervélo Team.

Toronto-based Garmin-Cervélo, officially known as Garmin-Cervélo Cycles, the team’s title sponsor, is a Canadian manufacturer of racing bicycle frames founded in 1995 by Phil White and Gérard Vroomen.

Garmin-Cervélo's sponsorship of elite athletes led to widespread recognition of the brand which provided frames for the Danish professional road cycling team between 2002 and 2008. In 2009, Garmin-Cervélo started a new professional cycling team, the Garmin-Cervélo Team.

The team's most famous riders are 2008 Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre and Thor Hushovd, although Heinrich Haussler has generated most of the team's headlines with his impressive performances at Paris-Nice, Milan-Sanremo and his stage win at the 2009 Tour de France.

In the build up to the 2010 Tour, the Garmin-Cervélo Team will be working closely with TCS technical experts to get the best out of their bikes through the use of TCS designed high-tech analytical equipment. The ultimate goal of the team is to make better bikes and share the team’s passion for cycling with their customers. That means working with riders in product development and opening up the team for fans.

TCS shares the above passion and will work alongside Garmin-Cervélo to raise its brand awareness in developing European markets as well as creating and reinforcing the perception of TCS as a leader in delivering success and performance for clients.

This announcement adds to TCS’ significant portfolio of sports partnerships, which include tie-ups with the Formula 1 racing team Ferrari, Ducati and several major marathons worldwide.
